(Graffiti action at Summat 2009)
MANY THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO WORKED SO HARD to make the Leeds Summat such a success last November... 700+ people gathered for a memorable and powerful day, looking at and playing around with 'the big issues of our time' - full info and reports below.
Plans are now afoot for SUMMAT 2, DUE IN AUTUMN 2011 - please be in touch to find out more or to get involved.
Full (6MB) report on Summat 2009 downloadable at www.t4p.org.uk/summatreport*.
Photo gallery available at www.t4p.org.uk/summatpics. Video of the Black Dogs' activities on the day at www.black-dogs.org. And listen to some amazing interactive fusion music made on the day: click here.
Finally, an essay from international sociologist Zygmunt Bauman, who spoke at the Summat, for those feeling academic: www.t4p.org.uk/summat/zygmuntbauman.
(*Since the release of the report, we've finalised the event budget at £12,700. Not including the 425+ in-kind days from the T4P team, nor the in-kind time from any of our many partners...)
The Summat brought together 700+ people from across Leeds and West Yorkshire for a fun, meaningful day of workshops, youth and kids zones, food, music, speakers, art, conversation, film, and much much more. Featured: activist and writer Alastair McIntosh, Jo Berry and Pat McGee of the Forgiveness Project, Palestinian and Israeli peace-builders, the Black Dogs Art Collective, Leeds International Film Festival, and Planet Leeds music. And most importantly: dozens of workshops and discussions hosted by local folk; networking; conversations (featuring methods such as open space and world café); and fun.
We're currently aiming to co-host a second Summat in early autumn 2011 - maybe outside in the sunshine next time! Watch this space, or get in touch to get onboard...
