We love to give diverse people the opportunity to get creative and collaborative together, and we’ve discovered that people go mad for den building!

In summer 2014, we therefore hosted the inaugural Leeds Den Building Festival, centred upon two big events at Victoria Gardens on the Headrow and at the Tetley. The concept was simple: letting people loose on a mountain of cardboard, tape and pens, and seeing what emerged!

The event’s were really popular, with 550+ people joining in, and between them creating: castles, spaceships, a submarine, a campervan, an Egyptian temple, a Hogwarts train, palaces, an American diner, teepees, and more. Click here for photos from the Tetley event.

Many thanks to all our 2014 partners, supporters and funders including: Leeds City Council, the Tetley, Playful Leeds, Better Leeds Communities, the Church of England, Community First (City and Hunslet), all the businesses who kindly contributed, and our amazing volunteer team.

Aside from the prospect of calling an Igloo Building Festival whenever we next get a serious dump of snow (watch this space), we’re currently looking to host more events in 2015 and beyond. To get involved, please be in touch.
