Running since 2003, the Leeds Peace Poetry competition has become a well-established annual event attracting thousands of entries each year.

It aims to increase skills in poetry and to encourage people to explore peace and justice issues through creative writing. Prizes are awarded for three age categories: primary school, secondary school and adult.

T4P got involved with the competition during its first Peace Festival in 2005 and partnered with it for ten years. The competition has been supported by lots of organisations over the years, including Leeds City Council, Leeds Children’s Service, Leeds Library and Information Service, Leeds Philosophical and Literary Society, and the Yorkshire Evening Post.
